David Frederick Golightly studied composition with Richard Steinitz at Huddersfield University. Born in County Durham and he now lives in the Wear Valley North East of England. A number of his compositions have been commissioned by eminent performers, including Moods for Roger Heaton, and Rites of Passage and The St Petersburg Mass for The Soglasie Male Voice Choir of St Petersburg. David has had his music performed as far afield as America, Germany, Poland and Russia.
Modrana Music Publishers Ltd was formed and registered in 1980 by classical composer David Frederick Golightly. It has a substantial catalogue of works and writings by David including two CD's. The Middlesbrough Symphony and The Choral Music of David F Golightly. Past projects have included the organisation of two six and twenty three UK, concert tours by The Soglasie Male Voice Choir of St Petersburg.

The Russian premiere of The St Petersburg Mass 1994. broadcast by Russian television and radio and the production of the opera The Eye 1993. The music catalogue is substantial and includes a diversity of music, composed by David, from symphonies to chamber and solo pieces, produced over 40 years. The writings are also interesting, including the factual books on music, its role within British society, and the compositional tutorials and articles defining the role of the composer. David has also produced a book of poetry; The Calling of the Roween: four novels, one of which is a fantasy trilogy of 750,000 words Waits a Dragon; twelve star sign books related to the trilogy. The Chronicles and Journals of the Pieces of Light and Dark. Future projects scheduled are a Requiem Mass and a ballet based on the Prometheus Unbound story.
